The Island of Barbados is 21 miles long and 14 miles wide (166 sq. mi.) It has a population of around 261,000 people with around 99,000 of them living in the capital city of Bridgetown.
English is the national language and a Barbadian dialect is spoken and is utterly charming.
The islands monetary unit is the Barbados Dollar (BD$). The conversion rate is approx. 2 BD$- 1 US$although U.S. currency is generally accepted throughout the island.
The temperature is warm to hot with a calm breeze blowing off the coast line. The yearly temperature varies between 75 degrees and 95 degrees fahrenheit with the warmest months being July and August.
